FAQ

Questions about AI visibility

What does the AI Visibility Checker actually check?
It fetches your robots.txt to see which AI crawlers are allowed, looks for a sitemap at common locations and any sitemap declared in robots.txt, loads your homepage to read the title, meta description, H1, canonical and noindex signals, and extracts any JSON-LD structured data. It then scores GEO readiness out of 100 and gives a prioritised fix list.
Which AI crawlers does it look for?
GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, Claude-User, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and Googlebot. These are the agents most relevant to AI search and answer engines.
Why does AI visibility matter?
AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews) increasingly answer questions directly without sending traffic to your site. If your site is blocked, unclear or missing structured data, you simply will not be considered in those answers. GEO readiness is the new front door.
Is this free?
Yes. The check is free, no signup required. You can optionally email the report to yourself.
How accurate is the GEO score?
The score is a deterministic measure of common AI visibility signals. It is a strong directional indicator, not a final verdict. A proper GEO audit examines content depth, topic clustering, entity coverage and competitor positioning. The recommendations included here are the changes most teams should ship first.
What is GEO?
Generative engine optimisation. The practice of structuring your website so AI answer engines can crawl, understand, cite and recommend your business. It overlaps with SEO but the optimisation targets and content shape are different.
